More details
What is Roaming Like at Home?
Starting from 01.01.2026, thanks to agreements between Ukraine and the European Union, you can use certain mobile services in EU countries the same way as in Ukraine. This is called Roaming like at home.
How are calls and SMS charged in the EU?
Outgoing calls and SMS (to Ukrainian numbers and numbers of the visited country) in the EU are charged the same as calls and SMS to numbers of other operators in Ukraine (subject to limitations established in accordance with current legislation). This does not apply to value-added service numbers or to calls and SMS to a third country (for example, if you are in Poland and call or send an SMS from a Ukrainian number to Germany).
Incoming calls in the EU are free of charge, provided that the 4-week service package is paid according to your tariff plan (the Gadget Security tariff for 12 weeks, except for the 1-day service package).
Please note, that if a tariff plan provides different prices or different minute allowances for calls to lifecell numbers and to numbers of other Ukrainian operators, while abroad a single charging principle applies to outgoing calls to Ukrainian numbers and to numbers of the visited country (including lifecell numbers): the price/minute allowance specified in the tariff plan for calls to numbers of other Ukrainian mobile operators is used. The same principle applies to SMS.
How is mobile internet charged in the EU?
Within the service package of your tariff plan, you receive a certain internet allowance that can be used without any additional charge in the EU in the same way as in Ukraine. The amount of this allowance is determined by a special formula (depending on your tariff plan) and is specified on the tariff plan webpage, via the USSD code *108*5# or in the My lifecell app
After this allowance is exhausted, an additional charge of UAH 50.00 per 1 GB applies (per-kilobyte billing) until the entire volume of the internet package available in Ukraine is used. Thereafter, charging is applied in accordance with the terms of the selected tariff plan: a daily service package or standard charging, as applicable in Ukraine.
Fair Use Policy
These are roaming usage rules that define that mobile services in the EU should be used while travelling, not as a replacement for permanent mobile services in Ukraine.
If a subscriber violates these rules, the operator may apply additional surcharges:
UAH 60.00 per 1 GB of internet (per-kilobyte charging, regardless of internet volume included in the paid service package; or applied instead of standard charging, if applicable).
UAH 1.00 per 1 minute of outgoing calls (regardless of the availability of minutes within the paid service package; or applied instead of standard charging, if applicable). Charging is per second, with a minimum charging period of 30 seconds at the beginning of the call.
UAH 0.10 per 1 minute of incoming calls (per-second charging; or applied instead of standard charging, if applicable).
UAH 0.15 per 1 SMS (regardless of the availability of SMS within the paid service package; or applied instead of standard charging, if applicable).
All taxes and charges are included.
Financial limits on mobile internet
To protect you from unexpectedly high roaming charges, financial limits are applied automatically. These are set limits on the amount you can spend on mobile internet abroad while your tariff plan’s service package is active.
Can I turn off SMS in roaming?
Yes, you can turn off certain SMS sent by the operator while in EU countries.
How to contact emergency services in EU countries?
A database of access methods to emergency services for users in EU countries.
Value-added services and numbers in EU countries
Some phone numbers or number ranges may have additional charges for calls or messages in different EU countries.
How to avoid unexpected roaming charges?
When traveling or staying near a border area, your phone may automatically connect to foreign, border, or non-terrestrial networks (on airplanes or ferries). It may also use mobile internet in the background due to app updates, cloud synchronization, or system processes. This can result in unexpected additional charges.
To avoid this, we recommend:
1. Turn off data roaming
Before traveling abroad, approaching a border, flying, or traveling by sea, disable Data Roaming in your phone settings.
Android: Settings → Mobile Network (Connections) → Data roaming → Turn off
iOS: Settings → Cellular → Cellular Data Options → Data Roaming → Turn off
You can also disable mobile internet while roaming free of charge via your personal account on lifecell.ua, the My lifecell app, or by contacting customer support at +38 063 543 3111.
2. Enable manual network selection
Select the lifecell network manually to avoid automatic connection to networks of another country in border areas.
3. Use Airplane mode
On anairplane or ferry, turn on Airplane mode so your phone does not connectto maritime or aviation networks with higher tariffs. Use Wi-Fi only if needed.
4. Additional recommendations
Turn off automatic app updates;
Limit background mobile data usage:
Android: Settings → Network & Internet → Data usage → Select an app → Turn off Background data.
iOS: Settings → Cellular → Select an app → Turn off mobile data access (or enable Low Data Mode).
Check whether international roaming is blocked on your number;
Use Wi-Fi wherever possible.
Please note
Roaming likeat home rules applyonly to terrestrial networks. Separate, significantly higher tariffs may applyin satellite, maritime, and aviation networks.
Roaming network quality
The quality of calls and mobile internet while roaming depends on the foreign operator’s network you connect to abroad. lifecell does not limit roaming service technologies — everything depends on the partner network generation and communication technologies (3G/4G/5G).
Roaming quality may be affected by:
the available network generation and data transmission technologies of the partner operator;
technical parameters and network load of the operator;
the distance between the partner network and the lifecell network.
Due to network limitations abroad, HD Voice, HD Voice+, and VoLTE may be unavailable in roaming. If VoLTE is available, its quality depends on 4G (LTE) coverage. When leaving the 4G zone, the connection may be interrupted.
Mobile internet performance is also affected by:
the device model and its technical capabilities;
active services on the SIM card;
simultaneous internet use by multiple devices.
Roaming internet speed may impact the proper operation of apps and services, including video streaming, online games, cloud services, and banking applications.
